Vehicle Description Fuel Required is happy to present this multiple award-winning 1971 Pontiac GTO coupe in our McDonald, PA showroom.
The GTO is credited with popularizing the muscle car market segment in the 1960s and is considered to have started the horsepower battle between domestic automakers.
The redesigned second-generation model beginning in 1968 offered more curvaceous, semi-fastback styling than its box-like predecessor.
For 1971, the GTO received a modest facelift with wire-mesh grilles, horizontal bumper bars, more closely spaced headlamps, and a new hood with the dual scoops.
In addition, 1971 was the last year for the GTO to be a separate model as the 1972 model reverted back to merely an option package for the LeMans coupes.
This car was originally delivered to Burrell Pontiac in Halifax, PA and has been meticulously cared for by the same owner for nearly fifty years.
It received a concourse level rotisserie restoration under the direction of Bill Hahn of Hahn Auto Restoration, Harmony, PA and has clocked less than 6,000 miles since completion.
This numbers matching example features a rebuilt 400 cubic inch V8 coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission and 10-bolt differential with Posi-Traction.
Other amenities include power steering, power brakes, AM radio and a rally gauge cluster.
The black paint is stunning and features the tasteful addition of green/yellow/white factory striping.
The interior is finished with the Pontiac saddle bucket-seats and remains in excellent condition.
Only 406 Starlight black 1971 GTOs were built; add in the Rally Stripes, the Formula steering wheel and a 4-speed and we doubt you would ever see another gorgeous GTO like this.
This car comes with complete PHS documentation.
In addition, this Pontiac is no stranger to receiving awards and features in national publications.
It has earned the following:
- GTO Association of America Gold Award - Pontiac Oakland Club International Gold Award - AACA Senior Grand National Award - Amielia Island Concours d'Elegance Amelia Award - International Show Car Association (ISCA) Best in Class Award - Goodguys Muscle Car of the Year Finalist Award Fuel Required always recommends and welcomes personal or professional inspections of any vehicle in our inventory prior to purchase.
